Guest Post: End of an Era
Well my friends, it may be too good to be true, but we have the go-ahead
to get rid of the Dobbs brace for the next month! We have an
appointment in four weeks to see how Jamie's feet are doing, and if all
is well we could potentially be finished with the bracing process at 26
months! I can't even tell you how exciting this is, or how strange it
is that the brace has become such a "normal" part of life. It has been
right in the middle of his bedtime routine for almost two years, in
between drinking his milk and brushing his teeth. And now we could
actually stand up on the step stool at the sink to brush our teeth, and
he could sleep in the cute little footed pajamas we have never been able
to use! As joyful as this occasion is, it's also a little sobering to
recognize that things are changing, and are just going to keep changing
as he grows up. I just pray we will continue to be as blessed as we
have been. And that we will be able to roll with the punches if he has a
recurrence of club foot later, which could very well happen. But for
now, his parents will enjoy every second of a much quieter sleep
experience even though Jamie doesn't seem to sleep as well without his
"hardware." :)
